On an episode of "Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith,” Amy explained, “Our baby's name is officially changed. It's now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realized that we by accident named our son 'genital.'”
Attell was a tribute to her best friend, comedian Dave Attell.
Nearly a year ago, Schumer and Chris welcomed Gene, a year after they tied the knot. At the time, Amy posted a pic of Chris holding their bundle of joy, writing on Instagram, “Gene Attell Fischer and his dad Chris.”

A few months ago, Schumer opened up about the difficulties of Gene's birth. She shared, “I was throwing up through the first hour of my C-section.”
“It's supposed to take about an hour and a half. Mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis,” Schumer added. “[It was] kind of brutal, but Chris was so great. We just stared in each other's eyes and he just held me there. Then they let me hold Gene for a good amount of time. I got to see him and hold him.”
Schumer has expressed her desire to expand her family with Fischer. Earlier this year, she revealed that she was undergoing IVF. Along with a pic of her belly, she wrote on Instagram, “I'm a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional. If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn't mind sharing your experience with me please do. We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”
