John Cena & Shay Shariatzadeh Are Red-Carpet Official: 'I'm Here with Somebody Special'
On Saturday, WWE superstar turned actor John Cena appeared at the NYC premiere of his new movie “Playing with Fire” with his new girlfriend, Shay Shariatzadeh. It was their first red carpet together, making it a doubly special night!
Cena was with “Extra's” Renee Bargh, gushing of Shay, who he met in Vancouver while filming the movie, “It's a wonderful night to be at the movies. I'm here with somebody special.”
Renee told John his girlfriend is beautiful and asked if they'd have any time to hang out in NYC or if he would have to rush off to the next thing. "No, no," John said, "the expectation is to actually spend some time together."
In "Playing with Fire," John stars as a firefighter who rescues three kids and becomes their babysitter. “I love their energy," he said of the young actors. As for kids of his own, he said that "it's not a decision you can make and regret... So until I feel I am in the position to make a proper commitment... I wouldn't want to shortchange a child.”

He told Renee of such star-packed opportunities, "Being surrounded by a 20-year legacy franchise group that lives their brand and being the new kid in school is an uncomfortable situation, but I'm surrounded by people that are better than me and help me learn. 'The Suicide Squad' is no different. [Director] James [Gunn]is amazing, the list of the cast is a mile long, and I'm learning so much.”
John also clarified whether he will retire from the WWE, saying, “I'll never speak negative of the company. I love the company, I love its performers, I love its managers. If my position is simply mentor or coach or even a goodwill ambassador… You don't ever retire from your family, and that's my family."
As for Halloween, he teased, “I will be on the set of 'The Suicide Squad,' so hell, yes, I am dressing up for Halloween, but I can't tell you anything about the costumes.”
"Playing with Fire" is in theaters November 8.
