On Tuesday, “Extra’s” Billy Bush sat down with Terrence Howard as he promoted the final season of “Empire.”
One co-star missing from the final season… Jussie Smollett, who plays his son. Wiping away some tears, Terrence said, “Jussie has been the heart of the show. He's been my son for six years… I miss my son.”
Admitting it was hard to hold back his emotions, Terrence stressed, “This is real life that we’re talking about, we’re not talking about dingleberries and applesauce. This is real life.”
As for what to expect from the final season, the 50-year-old teased, “Ultimately, like Paul said, ‘The payment of sin is death.’ You know, at the end of this season, I do not think Lucius will survive.”
Terrence recently announced that he was quitting acting after “Empire" ends. He pointed out, “I want to put my life towards utilizing the total brain potential that we have and maybe help change society and help us grow and recognize we need to be conscious beings.”
Over the weekend, Howard announced on the Emmy red carpet that he was going to "build [the planet] Saturn without gravity." When Billy noted that people’s were “going to explode” after hearing that, Terrence said, “They’re supposed to… that’s what we’re supposed to do.”
“Empire” returns tonight on FOX.
