Rihanna Talks Empowerment, Inclusion at Savage X Fenty Lingerie Show
Rihanna had one hot night!
RiRi stunned in a sparkly turquoise Alexandre Vauthier dress as she presented her Savage X Fenty lingerie show at New York Fashion Week. The singer-turned-designer was with “Extra's” Special Correspondent, Hot 97's Megan Ryte, after the show.
Rihanna shared, “I have had an incredible evening... You know, you get nervous when it's about to happen. You're like... 'Is it going to work out how I have it in my head?' It happened beyond what I had in my head.” She smiled, saying, “I feel incredible. I feel empowered. I feel like I empowered a lot of women tonight.”
Her Fenty brand is all about inclusion. “Inclusion is something that has always resonated with me," she said. "When it came to beauty, the first woman I'd seen put on makeup was my mom, a black woman. And to think that was completely ignored in the beauty industry... It happened again with lingerie. I want women to feel confident no matter what size they are... what their race is, what their religion is." She added, “We deserve to feel like that.”
The superstar is also making a difference with her Clara Lionel Foundation, pledging to help people in the Bahamas who have been devastated by Hurricane Dorian. Rihanna explained, “These natural disasters are going to happen. They're going to happen every year and with the magnitude of the climate change, things happen a lot quicker, a lot more drastic, a lot bigger.” She urged others to help, too. "I don't care if you step up with 10 cents or a can of tuna. Anybody that is willing to step up and be a part of solving the devastation or being a helping hand to what people are going through, it doesn't matter if you can do $1 or a million dollars — I'm all for it.”
