It was a star-studded night at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, where singer Kelly Clarkson celebrated her mother-in-law Reba McEntire.
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway was in the middle of it all, even helping with a once-in-a-lifetime introduction for Kelly Clarkson. On the carpet, Kelly said, “I hear Cher; she's right behind me right now. I can't even talk about it. I've never met her… Don't do anything either, it'll make me so nervous I'll wanna cry.”
AJ took matters into his own hands by introducing Kelly to Cher. Kelly said, “Nice to meet you…I've been talking about you the whole time like, 'She's right behind me.' I'm a big fan, obviously. I'm going to stop talking now.”
Cher responded, “No, I'm so happy to meet you!"
Kelly added, “I'm so proud of y'all tonight. I'm singing for Reba, but I was like, ‘I want to sing for Cher, too.’"
After her red-carpet chat with Cher, Kelly admitted, “Oh, my God, I'm sweating even more.”
Kelly was getting ready to sing for Reba, sharing, “I'm singing 'Fancy,' I'm singing about a prostitute."
To catch Kelly’s emotional tribute, tune in to 'The Kennedy Center Honors," which airs December 26 on CBS.
