The Signs? Who Should Be Tested for Breast Cancer
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, women's health advocate Alejandra Campoverdi opened up to "Extra" about her family's history of breast cancer and the proactive steps she took to break the cycle.
Breast surgeon and co-founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center, Dr. Kristi Funk, was by her side and shared some much needed knowledge about the cancer.
As for who should be tested, Dr. Funk told “Extra,” “You want to consider testing if you have two relatives with breast cancer prior to age 50 or ovarian cancer at any age.”
“If there is a known mutation running around in the family or if any men have had breast cancer,” she added. “Or if there is a whole lot of cancer going on.”
