A Closer Look at Lady Gaga’s Engagement Ring, and How It Compares to Kate Middleton’s Sapphire Sparkler
Lady Gaga just revealed she's engaged to boyfriend Christian Carino, and now fans are doing a double take at the pink sparkler she's been wearing for months.
Gaga hasn't spilled on the ring details yet, so Shane Co.'s VP of Merchandise Alicia Davis is sharing her thoughts on the stunner.
Davis, who has not examined the ring in person, said, “Lady Gaga's 6 to 7 carat pink sapphire center stone is surrounded by an oval halo of large white diamonds that really emphasize the size and shape of the center stone.”
She continued, “With a bright pink color and intricate halo, the center stone is truly the eye-catching element of the ring.”
Gaga's sapphire bling has fans drawing comparisons to Kate Middleton's engagement ring, which previously belonged to Princess Diana.
Kate's ring is a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds, set in 18-karat white gold.
Princess Eugenie, who wed Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, also wears a halo ring. Hers is a blush-colored sapphire surrounded by diamonds.
Davis says the trend is catching on. “The simple shank with a halo is a huge trend that we have seen for the past few years, and now brides are being even more creative using the halo with different sizes of stones and details.”
