Selena Gomez Seeks Treatment After Recent Hospitalizations
Actress Selena Gomez is taking steps to better her mental health.
TMZ reports Gomez was hospitalized twice over the past few weeks, due to a low white blood cell count, a possible side effect experienced by kidney transplant patients.
During her second hospital visit, Gomez reportedly suffered an emotional meltdown. A source told People magazine, “She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point. She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She's surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She's doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast.”
According to TMZ, Selena is undergoing dialectical behavior therapy.
E! News reports that Gomez is trying to overcome her depression and anxiety. An insider shared, “Selena has been trying really hard recently to remain focused, and not let her health affect her. She has been actively writing new music, and moved to Orange County for a change of pace and a fresh breath of air. Ultimately, with all of her arising health issues, Selena started to feel super overwhelmed."
The news comes just weeks after Selena, 26, said she was taking a break from social media. “As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember — negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings. Obvi.”
