Meghan Markle’s First Solo Outing with Queen Elizabeth — How They Avoided a Royal Mistake!
Earlier today, Meghan Markle joined Queen Elizabeth for their first solo engagement — the opening of the new Mersey Gateway Bridge over the Mersey River!
At the event, the new Duchess of Sussez said, “It's a magnificent bridge.”
During the event, Meghan and the Queen were also treated to a dance performance by local school children who were celebrating the 1,000 years of crossings over Mersey River. The royals were seen smiling while engaging in conversation.
Andrew Curphey, who owns the theater company that brought the children together, told People magazine about the two royals, “They both wanted to talk. The best hit was just before they left. Meghan turned back to me and said, 'The children did great, by the way.'”
He added about Markle, “She was really calm considering it was her first official engagement with the boss. She is with the boss, so no pressure!”
Later in the day, Queen Elizabeth helped Meghan avoid an awkward moment as they were getting into an awaiting Bentley. Meghan appeared unsure who was supposed to get into the car first, so she asked the Queen, “What is your preference?” The Queen answered, “You go first.” After Meghan heard the answer, she got in and the Queen followed.
