Mario Batali Apologized to Fans for Sexual Impropriety... with a Holiday Recipe
Chef Mario Batali, who has been accused of a pattern sexual harassment that led to his firing from "The Chew," used his corporate newsletter to apologize — and offer a tasty recipe.
BuzzFeed reports Batali wrote, "I have made many mistakes and I am so very sorry that I have disappointed my friends, my family, my fans and my team. My behavior was wrong and I take full responsibility."
He ended the short note with, "I will work every day to regain your respect and trust."
In a startling P.S. that came out of nowhere, Batali used the occasion to offer a recipe, writing, "ps. in case you're searching for a holiday-inspired breakfast, these Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls are a fan favorite."
Many on social media were quick to point out the incongruity of a fun holiday recipe in the same note as a serious apology.
In addition to losing his gig on "The Chew," Batali announced he was "stepping away" from his businesses in light of the allegations.
