John Boyega Talks Royals on the Set of 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'
“Extra's” Renee Bargh sat down with “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” star John Boyega to talk about his character Finn, and a possible royal cameo in the film.
He told Renee he has seen the finished film, and called it “amazing.” John also confirmed rumors that this is the darkest chapter in the series so far. “So far, yeah, definitely, but I think that is necessary, because a lot of damage was done in 'Force Awakens,' in the sense that the First Order really takes a hit. The retaliation is something that obviously we have to consider and the retaliation is huge, and the Resistance in this story, they're in over their heads.”
He got in over his head when he recently hinted that fans are in for a royal surprise.
When Renee asked him to confirm rumors that Prince William and Prince Harry filmed a cameo as stormtroopers, John said, “Apparently, I can't... even though I have.”
Renee teased, “Even though you already did… did you get into some trouble for that? You're still here. You're still alive.” John explained coyly, “Well, it's the logic of it all, and the common sense… the royal family and the biggest franchise of all time… trying to keep it a secret. Don't challenge yourself like that. Don't do that!”
Dishing on their time on set, he said, “They had an official visit and it was cool.” He added, “They were getting into it, picking up the sabres, looking at the creature shops… I saw Harry jump in the X-wing a couple times, he was like, 'I just want to check it out.'”
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens in theaters on Dec. 15.
