Kerry Washington on Oprah, 'Scandal,' & Harvey Weinstein

Last night, Kerry Washington was honored with the Inspiration Award at the GLSEN Respect Awards.

Just before she gave a fiery acceptance speech critical of President Trump, Kerry expressed how “thrilled” she was to be there while speaking with "Extra's" Terri Seymour.

Last weekend, the 40-year-old star caught up with Oprah, who was celebrating her new book! Kerry gushed, “Thank God we were born in the time that she’s alive! I love you Oprah!”

Kerry also loves her “Scandal” castmates, saying they'll stay in touch when the series ends this season. She joked, “The whole cast is stuck with me, like it or not!”

Speaking of scandal, Washington was not afraid to give her opinion of Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual harassment and rape by multiple women. She pointed out, “It’s important we acknowledge it’s not just about one person. It’s societal.”

She also acknowledged rape is a serious issue in our society, saying, “We have to be willing to deal with the issue as a whole.”

Kerry is doing her best to make sure her own kids are growing up with self-confidence and self-esteem, humbly admitting, “Parenting is an experiment at all times.”

She also emphasized the importance of leading by example and setting a good example at home, sharing, “You have to be an example at all times and lead by example myself.”
