John Cena & Nikki Bella on His Public Proposal, Plus: Their Nude YouTube Video
Last night, “Extra” caught up with John Cena and Nikki Bella at the NYC premiere of his film, “The Wall.”
On the red carpet, the pair were still on “cloud nine” after getting engaged earlier this month on live television. Of his decision to propose after winning a tag-team wrestling match, he explained, “I thought about that. It was very public, it could have gone south. The WWE fanbase will definitely let you know how they feel. They're my family… through thick and thin, the cheers and the boos, I feel close to them. I just felt like it was no other place… it couldn't be more perfect. It's where my heart is.”
John's mom was in the audience when he popped the question to Nikki. He said, “She didn't know. I didn't know she was coming to the event… they cut the camera off 'cause, out loud, I said, 'Holy sh*t, there's my mom… I forgot everything and gave her a big hug. She doesn't like traveling. They hid her from me for four days. They put her in a different hotel. We couldn't find each other."
Nikki chimed in, “She is surprising us because we're in a match together and she's never seen John live. She got surprised, and so did I, when John got down on one knee.”
Of their wedding plans, Nikki wants John to be involved. She said, “He's so cute, he just wants me to be happy… he just gives the budget and I gotta stay on track.”
John added, “Especially right now. We're at the very beginning stages of everything. I'm kinda like very long-lensed.”
The two recently made headlines for going nude on YouTube. John laughed, “We just wanted to do something fun… just take something and get people to laugh. I don't mind being the butt (pun intended) of the joke.”
Nikki pointed out, “I didn't think he was going to do it. I just reminded him like, 'Hey, we're almost to 500,000 subscribers.'”
As for his role in the movie, Nikki definitely approves! He smiled, “It's an experience for us to see it for the first time. This is the way I want it.”
“The Wall” hits theaters May 12.
