Mariah Carey & James Packer Reportedly Engaged After 10 Months of Dating

Singer Mariah Carey and billionaire boyfriend James Packer are reportedly getting married!

After less than a year of dating, Packer popped the question with a whopping 35-carat engagement ring. Daily Mail obtained pics of Mariah showing off the huge $7 million diamond sparkler after dinner with James on Thursday night in NYC.

Packer asked jeweler Wilfredo Rosado to design the ring for Mariah. Rosado told Vogue, "I took the standards super high, and I wanted to create a ring that could not be measured up to. We have the same taste, and when it came down to it, I really wanted to create something for her that was about new beginnings. I wanted to give her something super sophisticated and something that took away all of the embellishments that a lot of people use when they design engagement rings these days. But it is epic. It's an epic ring for an epic time in her life.”

A close source told E! News about the couple, "They fell head over heels in love with one another. It's crazy how perfect they are together, they both know it and couldn't be happier."

The two met in 2014 at a movie premiere in Aspen. The insider shared, "As soon as their friendship turned romantic, they have wanted to spend every moment together. They have a connection that is unparalleled; it's been a very beautiful experience for them both. If you spend even five minutes with them, you can't help but believe in true love."

As to why the singer and the Australian business scion are right for each other, the source said, "They are just very cute together, they like doing sweet things for one another. They want to make each other happy."

In the past 10 months, Mariah and James have taken their romance all over the world, including Ibiza, St. Barts, Italy, Australia and Israel, where they saw the Western Wall. An insider revealed, "There is only one place at the Western Wall where men and woman can stand together, and it was meaningful for him to take her there so that they could share this very intimate moment as a couple."

A third source added, "It was more a spiritual journey than anything. He is aware Carey has the world at her fingertips, but he likes to find things that she has never experienced."
