Brenda Lilly, Friend of Stephen Collins' Wife, Sets the Record Straight on Rumors
Brenda Lilly, a longtime friend of Stephen Collins’ wife, Faye Grant, recently sat down with “Extra” via Skype to set the record straight on claims that Faye was behind the leak of Stephen’s alleged molestation confession tapes.
Lilly, who worked closely with Faye on a television show in 2000, said she was shocked by the news and reached out to Faye right away.
“I called Faye as soon as I could just to say I was sorry to hear this… I could tell it had been a difficult day for her and I could hear the hurt in her voice. I asked her how [her daughter] Kate was doing and [she said] as well as could be expected.”
Lilly said she does not believe Faye leaked the tapes, because, “I don’t think there’s any part of her that would jeopardize her daughter. She’s as protective of Kate as anybody I know. She is a true mother in that regard… I don’t see her exposing her daughter to this in any way at all.”
She added, “I also think that Faye cares about Stephen. I mean, I don’t think she would do anything to hurt him in this way.”
Lilly also doesn’t think that Faye wants this to go to trial.
“I can’t imagine Faye wants to go to trial. There’s not any reason for Faye to want to drag this through the press or through the media. This is not who she is. She’s a very private person in fact. I can’t see any of this benefitting her in any way. So I don’t know why she would want to make this an explosive event.”
