Baltimore Ravens Cut Ray Rice Following Release of Assault Video
The Baltimore Ravens have terminated Ray Rice's contract following the release of a new video showing the running back punching his fiancée in the face.
The incident took place in an Atlantic City hotel elevator in February. Rice's girlfriend Janay, now wife, can be seen hitting at the NFL player before he punches her in the face.
She appears to hit her head on the elevator railing, before collapsing to the floor. An earlier released security video showed Rice dragging her unconscious body out of the elevator.
At the time the first video was released, Rice's rep confirmed his identity and Janay's. The NFL suspended Rice for two games.
Rice was arrested in February, and later charged with aggravated assault in March. He turned down a plea deal and plead not guilty, instead signing up for a first time offenders program that could clear him of all charges in as little as six months. The program required him to attend counseling and stay out of trouble.
