'The Voice' Finale! Usher's Priceless Reaction to Beating Adam and Blake
Usher and his contestant Josh Kaufman were the big winners at “The Voice” Season 6 finale on Tuesday night.
How was Usher going to celebrate his victory over coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton? “Poppin’ bottles,” of course! “There is champagne in the winner’s circle, right?” he asked backstage with a smile.
Usher added with a laugh, “I haven’t seen Adam, I think he might be behind the stage counting votes… man it feels good to have a new coach win, right? I couldn’t take another season of that. If Blake won again, I would have walked off the stage.”
Josh said Adam deserves a little credit, considering Usher stole him from Levine’s team. “I started there, but I ended up in the right place.”
Usher piped in, “He signed, sealed and delivered you to me.”
All joking aside, Usher said he will miss Blake and Adam next season, saying, "I love them both."
There is plenty in store for “The Voice” winner. Kaufman said, “Obviously, there's ‘The Voice’ tour this summer, so that's coming up pretty quickly and it's going to be a lot of fun.”
He continued, “Then it's a matter of figuring out what a record is going to look like… at the root of everything I do is kind of a soulfulness. That's going to be there at the heart of whatever it is, so I think you can take that and add a pop element. You can add a rock element to that. You can go a lot of different directions, but it is definitely going to be centered on soul.”
Is Usher making plans to return to "The Voice" for Season 8? He said, "This is definitely a great way to close Season 6, this obviously gives great reason and logic to come back and defend the title."
Kaufman defeated Christina Grimmie and Jake Worthington for the win, despite an iTunes glitch that forced the show to discard any votes made by downloading music from the popular site.
