Dr. Kristi Funk Talks Angelina Jolie’s Double Mastectomy Decision
“Extra’s” Mario Lopez sat down with renowned breast cancer surgeon Dr. Kristi Funk at The Grove, who has treated celebrities like Sheryl Crowe and, most recently, Angelina Jolie.
Funk discussed for the first time Jolie’s brave decision to have a double mastectomy after learning she carried the BRCA1 gene.
Dr. Funk told Mario, “She didn't have it right away, but probably knew with her family history that it was a choice she would eventually make. Her decision was not made overnight. It wasn't based in fear.”
How is Angelina doing now? Dr. Funk smiled, “Perfect!”
