Randy Jackson Says He’s Exiting ‘American Idol’
“American Idol” staple Randy Jackson will not be returning next season.
Jackson tells "Extra" in a statement, "Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on 'American Idol' I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life-changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
It has been a turbulent judging season on the FOX singing competition show, especially for Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who have been publicly feuding since day one.
Rumors have been circulating that the network execs are looking to shake up the whole judging panel. A source told E! News, "There's always been chaos with 'American Idol,' but this year it's been more than ever.”
It looks like Jackson will be busy in his post-“Idol” years. In addition to new music (including collaborations with Mariah), sources told E! he's working on a new book, film and television development deals and his growing name brand, which already includes eyewear, watches and guitars.
