Reese Witherspoon Pleads No Contest in Disorderly Conduct Charge
Actress Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth are taking responsibility for their recent arrests in Atlanta.
Although Witherspoon was not able to appear in the Atlanta court on Thursday, TMZ reports that Reese's lawyer pled no contest to the disorderly conduct charges against her, while Toth, who was present, pled guilty to charges he was driving under the influence.
According to TMZ, Reese will pay a $213 fine, and Toth, who will get no jail time, must perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education program. He's been placed on probation for 12 months.
The judge said to Jim, "Consider yourself fortunate you didn't injure your passenger [Reese] and didn't kill anyone."
Witherspoon appeared on “Good Morning America” Thursday morning and said, “It's just completely unacceptable, and we are so sorry and embarrassed. I think we made a mistake, and it was something that will absolutely never happen again… We know better.”
