Carrie Wins Big at CMT Awards; 'Idol' Goes Country
It's time to mount up as the CMT Awards and “American Idol” prove country is king on primetime TV!
“Extra” was with country beauty Carrie Underwood in Nashville before the big awards show, where she denied rumors that she's getting hitched to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
“No, I'm so not getting married,” Carried told us
The blonde bombshell had everyone talking after she rocked the stage in a pair of metallic silver hot pants and a rousing rendition of her hit, “Before He Cheats.”
Before the night was through, Underwood also stormed the stage to take home top honors for “Video of the Year” and “Female Video of the Year.”
After she graciously accepted the awards, Carrie headed backstage to OK magazine's exclusive photo room to open up about how “American Idol” changed her life.
“During 'Idol' it was pretty crazy; before then I was just your typical college student... ate a lot of ramen noodles,” she admitted.
As for that “A.I.” contestant currently stirring controversy, Sanjaya, Carrie revealed she likes his happy-go-lucky attitude.
“He seems very unfazed by a lot of the negativity,” she said.
“Extra” also got reaction from former “Idol,” Kellie Pickler, who said, “I think he's a sweet kid. When I was there a few weeks ago he was very nice.”
Sanjaya and the rest of the contestants will be under the guidance of guest mentor Martina McBride on Tuesday night's show.
“I don't usually get nervous. Performing on live television, however, is a different story,” McBride admitted. “I'll kind of... whew... breathe a sigh of relief when it's over.”
Don't miss out on “American Idol's” country music fun, Tuesday night on FOX!
