Why Oprah Winfrey & Stedman Graham Are Quarantining Separately
Oprah Winfrey, 66, is taking precautionary measures during the COVID-19 crisis.
On Monday, Oprah revealed that her longtime beau Stedman Graham is quarantining in their guesthouse after his recent trip to Chicago.
During an Instagram Live with Oprah magazine, she shared, “He's at the guesthouse, because you all know I had pneumonia late last year...I had just gotten off of antibiotics last week, because I had a bronchial infection.”
Noting that Stedman was “late to the party” about the pandemic, Oprah added, “'I don't see what everybody's getting so upset about!' That's what Stedman was saying...and that's why Stedman's at the guest house!"
While Graham doesn't have the virus, Winfrey wanted to be safe than sorry. She said, “Stedman did not arrive from Chicago until Thursday, he had been speaking in St. Louis...he'd been on planes, so Stedman is like 'What's the procedure for coming home?' The procedure is...you ain't coming and sleeping in my bed! And literally, he goes, 'I'm not?' And I go, 'Have you not been paying attention to the news? Social distancing does not mean you go and sleep in the same bed with the person! When you just got off American Airlines!'"
Despite sleeping in the guesthouse, Stedman isn't upset. Oprah stressed, “He's happy to keep me safe.”
In a video, Oprah is seen chatting with Stedman from more than six feet away while he's staying in the guesthouse. Watch!

Oprah and Stedman have been together since the '80s.
When asked if she's feeling bored during the outbreak, which calls for social distancing, she commented, “I'm never bored, because I always have myself. I never feel alone, have never felt alone, because I just love being with myself. So this is more time to be with myself without the guilt. Usually it's like, you're with yourself but everybody wants to be someplace else. But there's nowhere to be!"
Oprah also had words of wisdom for those struggling during this rough time. She emphasized, “You will come out stronger if you choose to come out stronger. You will come out stronger if you actually get the lessons from it. If you think it's just about a virus...it's not. It's about the forces of life trying to tell us about ourselves. Whatever it is you're feeling, it's because you're supposed to be feeling it. Whatever this is putting you through, you needed this moment, and it was the only moment that could bring us to this realization. I'm looking at it from the bigger picture."
A few days ago, Oprah FaceTimed with Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina, who have both tested positive for the coronavirus. Along with posting video, she wrote on Instagram, “Like millions of people all over the world, I've been staying safer at home for over a week now. I know a lot of people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and uncertain. Because of that, I wanted to offer some hope and gather thought leaders and people going through it to add some perspective. Which is why I FaceTimed Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina who are safely quarantined together after he tested positive for COVID-19. Idris fills me in on his journey and Sabrina reveals the result of her test after they decided to quarantine together.”
