Halle Berry Reveals Injuries Suffered While Rehearsing for ‘John Wick 3’
Halle Berry isn't going to let a little laryngitis get her down. She was in New York, despite being under the weather, with director Chad Stahelski giving “Extra's” Renee Bargh the scoop on “John Wick 3.”
Halle is kicking butt and taking names alongside Keanu Reeves in the newest installment of the action franchise. She told Renee all about getting into even better shape for the movie, saying, “Hours and hours of stunt training, it's gun training, it's dog training, then it's just strength training on top of that with my trainer, and it's watching my diet.”
She loves doing fight scenes with Keanu, saying, “It was pretty amazing. It was a little terrifying at first because he's so damn good, and I wanted to be on the same level as him. I didn't want to disappoint him.” She even got injured! “I broke three ribs when I was rehearsing for 'John Wick'… It's like a badge of honor for me, we don't know how it happened… I worked for a little while with broken ribs until I could no longer do it.” She revealed she thought she would be replaced on the movie, but Chad waited for her. “He waited for me to heal, when I came back I felt better.”
Chad praised her, saying it was “so easy” to cast her in the role. “You don't even know how easy, I didn't even have a choice... it was great.” Halle took the role before seeing the script, and Stahelski described it as “pretty surreal. I am a pretty lucky guy.”
Halle is getting ready to play an MMA fighter in her next movie. “It was through surviving 'John Wick' training I knew I was capable.” She smiled, “I just hope I don't lose my teeth.”
What do her kids think of her work? “My son thinks I am a real-life princess. He sees me dressing up in gowns and going out. He says, 'You are a princess for real,' so I am going to let him think that for as long as I can.”

View StoryBerry also shared her thoughts on director John Singelton after his stroke. “I'm just heartbroken, he's one of the good guys. He paved the way for so many people and artists of color, I know for me he did, and he has been someone special in my life. Sending lots of prayers to him and his family.”
“John Wick 3” opens May 17.
