Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer on Their Hawaii Hangouts: ‘We Would FaceTime and Drink'

The Hollywood icon and the funny girl sat down with “Extra's” Mario Lopez to talk about their new movie, “Snatched,” and said they had almost as much fun together as they did on set.

The movie is about a mother named Linda (Hawn) and her daughter Emily (Schumer). When Emily's boyfriend dumps her before their exotic vacation, she persuades her ultra-cautious mother to travel with her to paradise, and they have quite the adventure.

Goldie and Amy shot the film in Hawaii, and loved every second of it. Amy said, “We had the best time!” Goldie added, “I didn't want to go home, I had so much fun on the set with Amy, doing all the stuff we did.” Amy added, “We would FaceTime, we would stay on different parts of the island (Oahu), but we would FaceTime and drink, so it was like we were drinking together… the ultimate introvert move.”

Goldie explained why she took so much time away from movies. “I found an interest in something else, the well-being of children, and I literally created a program, produced it, I didn't write it, for children to be able to reduce stress. It's pretty seductive when you see children respond to some of the things you help them to do.”

Amy says she lured Goldie back into films. “I read the script and I was like, that's me and Goldie Hawn. I just believed it would happen, we manifested it, a couple times I ran into her and I was like, 'I'm Amy,' and she's like, 'Okay, honey'… eventually it became real and she was like, 'Okay, I will look at the script,' and then we fought to make it together.”

Goldie also hinted that fans may be seeing her more often in the movies. “It lights a fire, but it's all about the project. I'm having a great time, we're thinking about a few things.” She doesn't see herself going back to producing, “It's a 'producorial' mindset, and I don't have that anymore.”

The film was a physically challenging one for them. Goldie pulled her hamstring in a scene running after a truck, saying, “I didn't warm up.” Sharing her secrets for staying fit at 71, she says, “I started as dancer… it's all about keeping in touch with your body, knowing what you feel like in prime shape and not wanting to get out of it… every day I do something physical.”

Amy is a fan of spinning. “I go to SoulCycle. I don't do what everyone else is doing... I do a slow pedal through a park. I like being in that room.”
