My She-ro! 'Captain Marvel' Soars at Box Office
Disney-Marvel's "Captain Marvel" — the first female-led Marvel superhero flick — is estimated to be opening to $155 million at the domestic box office!
Variety reports the boffo opening of the Brie Larson starrer would make it the seventh biggest MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) opening, after all three “Avengers” movies, “Black Panther,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
The movie has earned an A from Cinemascore and 79% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though Fortune points out the user rating on sites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb is artificially low, the product of a wave of trolls seemingly angry that the film stars a woman who has spoken out about the power of inclusivity.
The box-office success just proves that you can't keep a good woman down — even less so when she has super powers!
