Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston and Others 'Demand a Plan' for Gun Control
Hollywood is demanding a plan for gun control. Stars like Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and others went to Smashbox Studios in L.A. and Steiner Studios in Brooklyn to appear in a new 90-second PSA to help put an end to gun violence.
The “Demand a Plan” grassroots campaign began in July after James Holmes' shooting rampage in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater. The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday has again put the spotlight on guns. This piece came together organically in a matter of days and the production had the help of directors Jay Roach and Jesse Peretz.
"Extra" has learned, through sources close to the production, when the talent was asked to participate they all quickly responded, "When and where?"
In the video, the celebrities ask, "How many more? How many more colleges? How many more classrooms? How many more movie theaters? How many more houses of faith?"
Demand a Plan, launched by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, hopes to prevent future tragedies by requiring criminal background checks, banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines, and by making gun trafficking a federal crime. The group has collected over 700,000 petition signatures for the cause.
