WWE Star ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper Dead at 61
Wrestling veteran “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has died, reports TMZ.
The WWE star, real name Roderick George Toombs, went into cardiac arrest Thursday night at his Hollywood home and was found dead on Friday. His agent told Variety that he “died peacefully in his sleep.”
A family source told TMZ, “Our family is saddened by the sudden passing of our father and beloved husband, Roderick Toombs aka Rowdy Roddy Piper.”
His agent, Jay Schacter, added, “He was one of the most generous, sincere and authentic people I have ever known.”
Piper, who was inducted into the WWE Hallf of Fame in 2005, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006, but was reportedly in remission.
His friend Hulk Hogan told TMZ, “He was my best friend. He is a legend. God's gain is our loss. May his family in this time of need, find peace.”
