Matt Damon on Writing with Ben Affleck Again After 25 Years
“Extra's” Renee Bargh was with Matt Damon as he attended the premiere of his new film “Ford v Ferrari” at the Toronto International Film Festival. The star made it a date night with his wife Luciana Barroso.
Damon plays a car designer in the true story opposite Christian Bale, who plays a race car driver. Damon shared, “We all felt very lucky to be making it, especially given the changing nature of movies. This is not a franchise. There's not going to be a sequel. There's no superheroes. It's a real movie, and that was a lot of fun.”
Renee asked about the fight scenes, pointing out, “It's not like Batman vs. Jason Bourne, because it's more like a pillow fight.” Matt said, smiling, “It's more like a pillow fight. I haven't heard that. That's a good... yeah. It is, because they really don't want to hurt each other, but they really want to fight.”
Matt is working with his BFF Ben Affleck again after they won the Oscar for writing “Good Will Hunting” in 1998. Damon and Affleck teamed up with Nicole Holofcener to write “The Last Duel,” about a duel between Knight Jean de Carrouges and his squire. Ridley Scott is set to direct.
Damon said of the film, “We wrote for the first time in 25 years with Nicole Holofcener, who is a hero or ours — amazing writer, she's great. The three of us wrote this thing, so hopefully we will shoot it next year.”
