On Monday, “Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel paid her respects to on-and-off boyfriend Dennis Shields at his funeral in Long Island.

Shields died suddenly at his Trump Tower apartment in New York on Friday.

Frankel had not publicly commented on his sudden passing, until today on Instagram, writing, "Rest In Peace my sweet babies who gave me endless unconditional love." #nowandforever

Bethenny’s friend Sonja Morgan recently told RadarOnline.com, “This is heartbreaking. I spoke to Bethenny yesterday to say I was going to Coast Rica, in case she wanted to come and get away. She’s been working so much. Dennis is her rock. Dennis was important to her, and her daughter. Another tragedy in her life. I’m so sad for her. This saddens me to no end because it seems to be never-ending for her.”

Shields' estranged wife Jill expressed how heartbroken she was on Instagram. She said, "To the love of my life- Dennis-I will miss you every day. Forever your legacy will live on in our children and our future grandchildren. Your intelligence, humor and of course your good looks will forever be engrained in our family! Even though we did not live together, you still remained my best friend and my husband. Not many people were able to grasp our situation but it worked for us. We spoke everyday. I will miss that! I love you my dear husband. I am hoping up in heaven you are running around playing basketball and tennis without any back pain. See you again in forty years."

In a recent episode of “Real Housewives of New York,” Frankel told Dorinda Medley she couldn’t live with Shields. A friend shared on the show, “She [basically] said, ''I love him, but I could never marry him.”

According to sources, Dennis thought he was overdosing on prescription drugs and asked his assistant to administer the life-saving medication Narcan around 9 a.m. Despite reportedly receiving the medication, used to counteract opioids, Shields passed out and was later pronounced dead.
