Bret Michaels Suffers Medical Scare Mid-Concert
Poison's Manchester, NH concert ended after just three songs on Thursday, when frontman Bret Michaels suffered a medical emergency and rushed off the stage.
It turns out the rocker, who has battled type 1 diabetes since childhood, had extremely low blood sugar and had to be treated by paramedics backstage.
Guitarist Pete Evick updated fans via Bret's Facebook page, saying, that Bret “basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions.”
He added, “When I rushed to the bus he could barley speak, but begged me to apologize to the fans and seemed only concerned for them.”
Team Bret posted a follow-up message on his Facebook page to thank the paramedics involved.
“Sending a huge shout out to all the paramedics both on and off duty who have assisted Bret tonight. No words can thank you enough for your help.”
Michaels has suffered health scares in the past, including a brain hemorrhage in 2010, followed by an unrelated stroke linked to a hole in his heart.
