Carrie Underwood Gets Real About Motherhood
It was date night for country music superstar Carrie Underwood and her NHL husband Mike Fischer at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas. Carrie looked stunning in a one-shoulder, thigh-high Nicolas Jebran dress – three months after welcoming her second baby boy, Jacob.
Carrie opened up to “Extra's” Alecia Davis about her post-baby body, revealing she didn't bounce back as quickly after her second child. “It is a whole other ballgame. For many reasons, I wasn't able to work out as much as during my pregnancy. I feel like that really affected me afterwards, and then I go in the gym and I am like, 'What do I do? How do I do this?'”
She continued, “I was lifting twice as much before, it's a mind game I made a promise to myself not to give up, and take steps, and wear dresses that are really tight.”
Before the show, Carrie tweeted that she woke up with a migraine. She told Alecia, “I did. It's part of life, right? I was like... of all days, today. I think it was partially due to sleep deprivation but that's okay.” Is sleep deprivation a part of being a mommy? “Yes, for the best reason ever. The only thing that saves me is at four o'clock in the morning when he is just smiling at me, and I'm like thank you. This morning he was screaming. That was not fun, but normally he gets up and wants to eat, and is just happy and smiling and so sweet.”
The “Cry Pretty” singer added that big brother Isaiah is a pro, “He calls Jacob 'my baby.' He's like, 'Where is my baby? I want to kiss my baby,' so he is such a big brother.”
During the show, Carrie joined Chrissy Metz onstage to sing “I'm Standing with You” from Chrissy's movie “Breakthrough.” Carrie described the performance as “women supporting women,” adding, “We have been doing a lot of that lately.”
