Actor Ben Affleck and “SNL” producer Lindsay Shookus are still going strong — they are only months away from hitting the one-year mark in their relationship!
Shookus has stayed mum about Affleck, but she’s finally ready to open up about all the attention surrounding them! In the June issue of Elle, the 37-year-old reveals, “It’s strange to me. My entire career has been behind the camera, and that’s definitely where I’m most comfortable. I’m a producer, I’m a mom, a friend. Being considered a public figure honestly makes me laugh.”
Despite the public interest in her since she started dating Affleck, she isn’t letting it get to her. She explained, “Someone thinks about you for one minute and then says, ‘What do I want for lunch?’”
Instead, Shookus is more concerned about her own well-being and that of her daughter, Madeline, 5. She said, “I’ve put a lot of time in the past two years into just making myself better internally. Self-love means something. I thought it was all a joke for a long time. It’s really important. Giving yourself a break is really important.”
Aside from working on "SNL,” Shookus was also a producer on Adele’s NBC special “Adele Live in New York City” and an associate producer on “30 Rock.” Shookus won an Emmy for her work on “The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special” in 2015. Billboard also put her on its list of 50 Most Powerful Executives in music for two consecutive years, 2015 and 2016.
In a 2015 profile for The Hollywood Reporter, Shookus opened up about her early days in Hollywood, saying, "When I started as an assistant at 'SNL', I got my eyes on Kristen Wiig and was able to bring her for an audition for Lorne Michaels and the other producers. Turns out, Kristen Wiig can give you some street cred early on.”
