Taylor Swift is just hours away from kicking off her Reputation stadium tour in Arizona!
On Tuesday, Swift posted an Instagram Story that no one expected — a gift from Katy Perry, who has been her frenemy for years!
Along with an olive branch, Katy wrote, “Hey old friend– I’ve been doing some thinking on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us and wanted to clear the air.”
In response to the gift, Taylor wrote with a heart emoji, “Thank you Katy.”
Their beef reportedly inspired Taylor’s 2015 song “Bad Blood.” At the time, Swift told Rolling Stone without mentioning Perry’s name, “For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not.”
Last year, Perry expressed her desire to end their feud, telling The Thrive Global Podcast, “I am ready to let it go. I forgive her and I am sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think it's actually, like, I think it's time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world."
Hours after receiving Katy's gift, Taylor took the stage for her first show, where she appeared to call out Kim Kardashian for bullying. She told her fans, "A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media. And I went through some really low times for a while because of it. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was gonna get to do this anymore. And I guess the snakes, I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name-calling to bully you on social media and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead."
