Amanda Jones on Her Groundbreaking Emmy Nomination!

Amanda Jones made Emmy history with her nomination in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special!

Jones is the first African-American woman to be nominated in the category, receiving the nod for her score of Apple TV+’s docuseries “Home.”

The composer has also worked on Ava Duvernay’s “Cherish the Day,” Lena Waithe’s “Twenties,” and Robin Thede and Issa Rae’s “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” Her music can also be heard on the new Freeform show “Love in the Time of Corona.”

“Extra” Senior Music Correspondent Adam Weissler caught up with Amanda via Zoom to talk about her nomination, her rise in the industry, the importance of diversity, and more.
