Blake Shelton Says ‘Honest’ Record Was an ‘Outlet’ to Help Him Through His Pain

“Extra’s” Renee Bargh recently sat down with country superstar Blake Shelton, who opened up about his new album “If I’m Honest,” which is inspired by his love for girlfriend Gwen Stefani and divorce from Miranda Lambert.

Blake shared, “You got to pull from your real-life experiences… It’s an outlet for me, helping me through a rough time and now it’s creating a good time for me.”

Not only does Shelton sing about Stefani, he also asked her to sing the song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” with him on the album, which they performed on “The Voice” for the first time in May. He admitted, “I don't think I set out to have so many songs about Gwen on the record; I just wanted to sing about things I was feeling and thinking about at that moment.”
