Milo Ventimiglia Speaks Out on the Emotional 'This Is Us' Finale, Drops Clues About Next Season
“This Is Us” fans were dealt a devastating blow on last night's season finale, as Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) got into a fight and Jack moved out.
“Extra's” Renee Bargh caught up with Milo at Universal Studios Hollywood to talk about the season-ending episode that ripped fans' hearts to shreds.
What did Milo think of Jack moving out? “I think it was a good move. Jack is a smart man. He knows when he just needs to step back for a moment and give his wife some space… but he's not going to leave without a little Papa Pearson words of wisdom about how much he loves his family and cares for his family.”
When Renee asked when Jack would come back to the Pearson house, he shared, “He loves his family, he loves his wife. It is always going to be his best intention to get back to them… of course he is going to try.”
Viewers were hoping for more clues as to how Jack dies, a storyline that has been weighing heavy on their hearts. Milo said he knows the “how, where, when” of how it happens, but he didn't offer any clues. “There are a million different theories out there, some of them are very funny,” he said, adding, “I think Jimmy Kimmel might have said, 'You should go in and demand all this money because they can't kill you off, because you are already dead.'”
Milo isn't a dad himself, but he did model Jack after his own father. “I feel like I'm channeling my own father. My dad is a great man and he's a fun guy, but he's also given me all the tools I've needed as a man to be kind and also stand up for myself and look out for others. At the same time, enjoy and have a good life. Drawing from a lot of what my father was, I kind of plugged that into what was written for Jack.”
Looking ahead to future seasons, the star revealed, “There are no scripts yet, but there have been ideas and conversations, so I maybe understand a road map for seasons two and three.”
He later added, “Look at us like a box of family movies that aren't labeled. You are just picking up a tape and putting it in the VCR so you don't really know which story you are going to get, but you know it is gong to have that same feeling, that same sentiment, that same regard the Pearsons have been able to deliver."
Fans will have to wait until next season to find out what's in store for the characters on the NBC drama.
