Melissa McCarty is opening up about how her tough childhood led to a career as a national TV correspondent.
“Extra” caught up with the former “Crime Watch Daily” reporter to find out more about her memoir, “The Making of a Crime Reporter,” which details how she grew up in a crime-infested neighborhood, dropped out of high school, and went on to become a journalist. She also reveals that her brother Mikey turned to gangs and crime while suffering from addiction and mental health issues.
