JoJo Siwa Talks Thanksgiving Traditions and Demi Lovato’s ‘DWTS’ Support
On Monday, “Extra” spoke with JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson after they earned two perfect scores on “Dancing with the Stars.”
On making it to the finals, JoJo shared, “I have dreamed of this moment since the day I got the email to be on this show… it’s so unbelievable.”
Hours before they reached the finals, JoJo’s friend Demi Lovato took to Twitter to urge their fans to vote, tweeting, “My friend @itsjojosiwa is in the SEMI-FINALS of Dancing With The Stars! SHE NEEDS OUR HELP GETTING INTO THE FINALS! IT’S TIME TO VOTE FOR HER AND JENNA.”
JoJo gushed, “Demi is one of the sweetest, nicest, kindest, and most supportive people ever.”
Jenna was “thrilled” and “grateful” to get two perfect scores.
Referencing the “fierce competition,” Jenna admitted, “I don’t think either of us were expecting that.”
JoJo admitted there was “so much more pressure” after they got a perfect score on their first dance of the night, the Argentine tango.
The dance partners also revealed where they planned to store their Mirrorball Trophy if they won. JoJo shared, “I’m planning on hanging mine from my ceiling.”
Jenna added, “I’d probably put mine in my living room. My other one is in my living room right now.”
Will they be celebrating their win together at Thanksgiving?
While Jenna and husband Val Chmerkovskiy don’t have Thanksgiving plans yet, they could be over at JoJo’s home. Jenna quipped, “We’ll see, we might have a Friendsgiving.”
What is a traditional Thanksgiving like at the Siwas? JoJo dished, “Over the top. Lots of food. My mom’s gravy… it will change your life. There’s corn, potato casserole, and green bean casserole, turkey, and ham.”
“We do Thanksgiving twice a year,” JoJo noted. “We do Thanksgiving in November and we do Thanksgiving in April because we miss it.”
Speaking of family, JoJo also showed some love to her grandma, who was in attendance this week. She commented, “It means a lot for my grandma to be here tonight. It’s hard for her to be here… The fact that she wanted to be here made it so much greater. Having her in the ballroom, having her live hearing it, to feel everything, honestly gave me — and I feel us — more inspiration.”
A few weeks ago, JoJo and Jenna joined “Dancing with the Stars” to pay tribute to Britney Spears, who is now officially free from her conservatorship. Jenna weighed in, saying, “I’m so happy for her to now be free to live her life the way that she wants to live it.”
