Did Paul Rudd & Will Ferrell Just Give an ‘Ant-Man’ Spoiler?
Before he was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2021, Paul Rudd spoke to “Extra’s” Cheslie Kryst about his new dark comedy with Will Ferrell, “The Shrink Next Door.”
When asked which was more fun to play — an eccentric doctor or a Marvel superhero — Paul answered, “There’s something really fun about playing a complex character like Dr. Ike… And I love playing Ant-Man. That whole Marvel universe is so surreal. It’s exciting but also a different experience.”
Will joked, “A little bit of a spoiler… In the next ‘Ant-Man,’ Ant-Man becomes a therapist.”
Paul quipped, “Sometimes it’s so hard to separate characters. Am I playing Ike or Ant-Man? Just mush them all together.”
Since they’ve worked together for so long, Will noted that it was “a luxury” to be able to reunite for a project like “The Shrink Next Door.”
Will we be seeing more future projects with Will and Paul? Ferrell commented, “We have 50 projects lined up.” Paul chimed, “And looking for another 50.”
The series is based on a true story. Paul dished, “They wrote scripts based on the podcast… What they were focused on was the relationship between these two guys.”
Ferrell teased about the show, saying, “There is definitely humor, but along with that humor, there’s real tragedy.”
Will recently appeared in a TikTok video with Ryan Reynolds, which garnered 128 million views, but as far as joining the social media platform himself, he said, “I don’t have any plans yet, but you never know.”
“The Shrink Next Door” premieres November 12 on Apple TV+.
