Kim Goldman Says O.J. Simpson’s Parole Hearing Was 'Upsetting'
“Extra's” Mario Lopez caught up with Ron Goldman's sister Kim at Universal Studios Hollywood, where she shared her thoughts on the O.J. Simpson parole hearing.
Simpson was accused of killing ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Kim's brother Ron in 1994, but was acquitted. The former NFL star went on to serve 9 years in prison for an armed robbery in Las Vegas, and was just granted parole. Simpson could be released as early as Oct. 1.
Kim told Mario she wasn't surprised that the parole board at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada decided to free O.J. “It's what I expected,” she said.
As for some of the things Simpson said during the hearing, like, “I've lived a conflict-free life,” Kim said she found it “upsetting.”
“The lying and the lack of accountability, the lack of remorse, that was upsetting,” she said. “That was par for the course.”
She also touched on the $33.5 million O.J. was ordered to pay the Goldmans and Nicole Brown Simpson's family in a civil judgment from 1997.
She said he is “100 percent protected” while living in Florida, which is where he lived before his 2007 arrest for armed robbery, and where he plans to live once he is out on parole.
“He lives in a debtor-friendly state,” she explained. "So all of his pensions are protected. It's a right-to-work state. His homes are protected.”
