‘Bachelorette’ Castoff Dean Unglert: ‘I Was Definitely Heartbroken’
“Extra's” Mario Lopez caught up with “The Bachelorette” contestant Dean Unglert at Universal Studios Hollywood, after Rachel Lindsay sent him packing on last night's episode.
When Mario asked if he thought Rachel had made a mistake, he replied, “In the moment, I definitely felt that way, looking back I can see she is doing what is best by her. You gotta respect that.”
Rachel's reason for letting him go? “She was just saying we are at different times in our lives and I can't really fault her there.”
Unglert said he doesn't think the visit with his estranged father affected the outcome. “I want to say no, I don't think that it was. I think it was an emotional experience for both of us.”
Dean has no hard feelings, saying, “I'm going to look back at this in 10 years and laugh my ass off, I'm sure.”
He did admit, “I think Rachel is great. I was definitely heartbroken at the end of that.”
Fans will see more of Dean on “Bachelor in Paradise” when the show returns August 14. While he couldn't speak to the drama surrounding Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson because he wasn't there to experience it, he did say, “I have spoken to DeMario afterwards and he is in high spirits… and he seems to be in a good place.”
Due to the scandal, “BIP” has introduced new rules about drinking and hooking up, but Dean said, “Interestingly enough, the rules didn't affect us too much.”
Mario asked if he had to ask to hook up with anyone, but Dean played coy, saying, “I don't know… I may not hook up with anyone.”
Dean could continue with the franchise even after “BIP,” saying, “I would consider” being the new “Bachelor.”
