Lisa Kudrow Talks 'Friends' 25-Year Anniversary Celebration, and Which Castmates Should Plan It
Lisa Kudrow got her big break on “Friends,” and now the show is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Lisa, who played Phoebe Buffay, sat down with “Extra's” Tanika Ray at Universal Studios Hollywood to talk about the milestone, as well as her passion project, the Wonder of Women Summit on April 11.
Kudrow told Tanika what she thinks about when she reminisces about “Friends,” “We were all really grateful that we had each other, the other five of us, to keep us in check and check in with. Like, 'This is weird right? Did that happen to you? Yeah, I got followed. I didn't like it.'”
The cast is still close today, so how will they celebrate 25 years of friendship? “I don't know, good question… Courteney and I were talking about that, we should all get together.” She said, "Courteney and Jennifer are good planners. I'm that annoying person that's like, 'Hey, do either one of you want to put that together?' My role is like, 'Here's an idea and have someone do it.”
The Wonder of Women Summit (#WOW) is an annual conference that encourages meaningful discussions on topics of interest to women: careers, health and well-being, nurturing and caretaking, and living a full, meaningful life.
Lisa explained, “It's sponsored by the Neuropsychiatric Department at UCLA. It's going to be fantastic.” She shared what she has gained from it, “We have to destigmatize mental health issues, because it's another part of our body that needs treatment.” She added, “I think women are really good at connecting, listening, talking, and just exchanging information... and that's what this whole day is about.”
