Tony winner Natasha Richardson died following a freak ski accident on a beginners' hill in Montreal.

On August 9, 1999, "Star Trek" actor William Shatner discovered his third wife Nerine Kidd (left) had drowned in their backyard swimming pool. Alcohol and Valium were detected in the autopsy.

Talented actor and comedian Phil Hartman was shot and killed in his sleep by his wife Brynn, who also killed herself. on May 28, 1998. Hartman was a longtime "SNL" cast member.

Singer/songwriter Marvin Gaye was killed by his father after a dispute on April 1, 1984. Gaye died the day before his 45th birthday. Daughter Nona Gaye is pictured performing a video duet with her late father.

Tarita Cheyenne Brando, daughter of Oscar winner Marlon Brando, committed suicide in 1995. Cheyenne was one of Brando's eleven children and suffered from mental illness, drinking and drug abuse.

Grammy-nominated singer/rapper Lisa Lopes aka Left Eye (right) was killed in a car accident in Honduras on April 25, 2002. She was the driver or the vehicle and died from severe head injuries at the age of 30. Lopes was a member of popular girl group TLC.

Actor Jonathan Brandis died at the age of 27 from injuries he suffered after hanging himself on November 12, 2003. The star appeared in "The Wonder Years" and "seaQuest DSV."Brandis also dated actress/singer Tatyana Ali from 1995 to 2001.

American royalty John F. Kennedy, Jr. and wife Carolyn Bessette were killed in a plane crash on July 16, 1999. JFK, Jr. was piloting a small aircraft from New Jersey to Martha's Vineyard. Kennedy was 38 and Bessette was 33.

"The Client" star Brad Renfro (left) was found dead on January 15, 2008 in his L.A. apartment. Renfro's death was accidental from acute heroin/morphine intoxication. The actor was 25 years old.

Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger was found dead on January 22, 2008. He died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at the age of 28. Ledger was romantically linked to actresses Naomi Watts and Michelle Williams (right).

Diana Spencer was killed in an August 30, 1997 car crash in Paris. None of the four occupants in the car were wearing seat belts, one survived. Princess Diana was 36 years old.

Actor David Strickland was found dead on March 22, 1999 in a Las Vegas motel room at the age of 29. Strickland appeared on the hit sitcom "Suddenly Susan" alongside Brooke Shields.

Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, died on September 10, 2006 from a lethal combination of anti-depressants and methadone. Less than five months later on February 8, Anna Nicole died of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 39.

"Saturday Night Live" funnyman Chris Farley (left) was found dead in his downtown Chicago apartment on December 18, 1997. Autopsies revealed Farley died of a drug overdose. He was 33.

Actor Bill Cosby and wife Camille's son Ennis was murdered on January 16, 1997. The 28-year-old was found dead in his car on the shoulder of the 405 Freeway in L.A. A transient was charged with his murder.

Grammy-nominated singer and actress Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. The successful star was leaving the Bahamas, where she had shot a music video. Aaliyah was 22 years old.
