Mandy Moore Says 'This Is Us' Cast Texts Every Day, Reveals Who Is Funny and Who Is Crazy
Fresh off the success of “This Is Us,” Mandy Moore is headed on to the big screen in a big shark movie.
Mandy joined “Extra's” Charissa Thompson at Universal Studios Hollywood, where she talked about her role in “47 Meters Down” as well as returning to work on “This Is Us.”
Fans are clamoring for Season 2 of NBC's hit show, and still want to know how Jack Pearson will die.
Mandy, who plays matriarch Rebecca, told Charissa, “I don't know too much. I have heard rumblings of questions that people are anxiously awaiting being answered. [The answers] will manifest themselves in the first couple of episodes.”
Mandy admitted she does miss her castmates and is looking forward to starting filming again, “We start in, like, six weeks… We are all on a text chain together, so we talk pretty much every day, and usually it's a couple funny GIFs that are being sent around, and us goofing off.” She told Charissa that Chris Sullivan is the crazy one. “Sterling is super goofy and Justin, we have some real comedians in our midst.”
In “47 Meters Down,” Moore plays Lisa, who goes to Mexico with her younger sister, played by Claire Holt, after a horrible breakup.
The women go cage diving to see great white sharks, but the cable connected to their cage snaps, sending them plummeting 47 meters down to the ocean floor.
“I think that was the exciting prospect of being part of a project like this,” Mandy said, explaining why she took the part. "It was unlike anything I've ever done before and these types of movies don't usually come my way, but I read the script and tore through it in, like, 40 minutes and thought, 'What an exciting premise.' There really hasn't been a film that's primarily been shot 95% underwater that's kind of a thrill-of-a-minute, edge-of-your-seat, trying to see how this story's going to unfold.”
Moore shot the movie after quietly divorcing her husband of nearly six years, rocker Ryan Adams. “I was in the middle of some crazy personal turmoil and I was looking for something outside of myself that's a complete challenge.”
