‘Star Wars’ Actor John Boyega Reveals Celebrity Crush, Talks Working with Harrison Ford
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star John Boyega stopped by Universal Studios Hollywood to talk to “Extra's” Mario Lopez ahead of the film's mega-premiere.
The British born actor, who starred in 2011's "Attack the Block," is about to take a bigger plunge into stardom as Finn in the latest Star Wars film.
John said people have already started to recognize him. “It's a steady role right now. I'm starting to be recognized, but at a healthy pace, I think, I think that's going to change after a few days.” The 23-year-old is a lifelong Star Wars fan, and says he is ready. “I've been waiting for two years for this moment and it's incredible… I'm so excited.”
The world is excited too. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is poised to break box office records around the globe.
“It's crazy, I mean, what I do is I transfer the amount of money to the amount of people that will be there… touches my heart deeply and Star Wars fans are so important to me, their opinions are important, so the fact that they'll be happy and this movie will affect so many people... I'm absolutely astounded at this.”
While John can't divulge details of the movie, he can talk about the Stormtrooper uniform. “See this is the problem with Stormtrooper suits, see, I have legs, I squat… but you have to make it look as if it's agile and the first order made it for comfort.”
Boyega is getting very comfortable with the cast, and became tight with acting legend Harrison Ford. “We've grown close, I took him back to my hometown, we had dinner and he met my parents.” He joked, “So it's real serious guys, he met my parents.”
He isn't getting serious in the dating department though, telling Mario, “Honestly, right now I'm just concentrating on myself.” He does, however, have a celebrity crush… Angela Bassett! “Angela Basset was one for me. She is the queen. I bow at your feet, Angela."
John is slated for the next Star Wars movie as well, but he doesn't know when they will start shooting. “We don't know yet… we'll see, we'll see how that turns out.”
For now, staying at home and playing with light sabers will have to suffice. "I have nine light sabers," he confessed, joking, "I battle my cats and also my best friend."
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens on Friday.
