Virtual reality has been blowing up the scene lately in the video-game circuit, but it is serving a purpose in the medical field, too.

Dr. Neil Martin, head of the neurosurgery department at UCLA, has been working with a company called Surgical Theater to change the way we see surgery and the future of medicine.

He said, “We’re seeing a huge opportunity to use virtual reality to prepare for complex brain surgery. Not only is this helping us to educate the next generation of surgeons, we're also using it to educate patients about the surgery that they are about to undergo.”
