Meet the Man Who Inspired ‘Safety’ by Juggling Football, College, and Raising His Brother

The new Disney+ film “Safety” is more than just your average football movie. It’s the real-life story of student athlete Ray Ray McElrathbey, a 19-year-old Clemson University football player who juggled classes, practices, and games while secretly raising his 11-year-old brother on campus.

“Extra’s” Rachel Lindsay caught up with Ray Ray, along with Jay Reeves, who plays him onscreen, and Corinne Foxx, who plays a sports reporter in the inspirational film. Watch!

“Safety” premieres December 11 on Disney+.
