She’s known for her work on Broadway, but Eva Noblezada just made her feature film debut!

Noblezada stars as Rose in the new film “Yellow Rose,” about a Filipina teen in Texas who wants to be a country star.

“Extra’s” Adam Weissler caught up with Eva, a Grammy winner and two-time Tony nominee. She shared that the movie was special to her because she had never seen a Filipina lead before and knew she wanted to be part of it, describing it as ultimately a “journey about humanity.”

“I’m excited for young Asian Americans and young people of color to see this film and hopefully see a lot of similar traits and characteristics that Rose has when it comes to endurance, when it comes to finding out who they are, and loving who they are, and fighting for their dreams, whether it be music or maintaining self-awareness.”

“Yellow Rose” is in theaters now.
