Gary Woodland Celebrated U.S. Open with Biggest Fan Amy Bockerstette
Days after he won his first major at the U.S. Open, “Extra” spoke with golfer Gary Woodland at our “Extra” studio in Levi’s Times Square, where he showed off his massive trophy.
Along with celebrating his win, Woodland also commented on his gone-viral moment with Amy Bockerstette at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where she played and parred the 16th hole with him by her side.
Of Bockerstette, who has Down syndrome, Gary said, “When you have someone as special as Amy come out and do something so cool, it’s contagious. Her love, her energy, everybody latched onto that… Her attitude and love is what sticks out.”
He noted, “I’ve carried a lot of her energy with me. I saw her this morning. It’s great to catch up with her always.”
