Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb know how to celebrate, and this year they are counting down the biggest and more buzz-worthy stories from 2016 on their two-hour NBC special.
“Extra” caught up with Kathie Lee and Hoda, who gave a sneak peek into the special. Kathie Lee noted, “I've lived a long time — I've never seen a year like this.” When it comes to the biggest topic, Hoda said, “There is only one headline from 2016 and that's politics… and the story of Trump.”
From politics to Broadway to sports, the duo has a lot of bright spots in the year to highlight, with Hoda reminiscing, “The other big story was the Olympics. If you wanted to be in a good mood, all you had to do was look at Simone Biles, the Final Five or watch Michael Phelps set another record."
The NBC special "A Toast to 2016" kicks off at 8 p.m. ET December 31.
